The Lapland Longspur was present this morning around 11:30 on northeast end of the trail leading out along the flood control channel. It was foraging on the hillside with Horned Larks as others have noted. Another birder reported seeing the Tropical Kingbird briefly, but I was not so fortunate. Instead I contented myself with a dark female Merlin as it scattered American Pipits on Mount Trashmore. There was also an adult Thayer's Gull in the pond just south of the parking area and over the pond were several White-throated Swifts.
